ANC Legislators mourn the MEC shock passing

20 July 2013

African National Congress (ANC) Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs) today reacted with shock and sadness at the passing of the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) Nkosiphendule Kolisile responsible for Economic Development earlier today.

Kolisile, was a victim of fatal vehicle accident outside Bloemfontien in the Free State this morning. He was with two of his bodyguards en-route to the Eastern Cape for a bereavement. He is survived by his wife Nosakhe and three children, son Skhumbuzo and daughters Nomakhithi and Ntombi.

Shocked Caucus chief Whip Brain Hlongwa said he and the entire Caucus collective were saddened and stunned by Kolisile`s sudden death.

"Death the coward should not be proud of having robbed the people of Gauteng one of their finest sons. Comrade Nkosiphendula was one of the star performers of this Caucus and we were expecting much more to come from him," said Hlongwa.

Kolisile served as Convener of ANC Caucus Economic Transformation Cluster from April 2009, and later became chairperson of GPL Economic Development Committee and was later appointed MEC of Economic Development late in 2012.

Hlongwa and other senior leaders of the ANC and Government are visiting the family and further details will be announced in due courses.

"We would like to pass our condolences to the family and relatives of the Kolisile family, those of his bodyguards Sgt Tshepo Job and Sgt Tebogo Motsei," Hlongwa said.
