Mandelas thank ANC Provincial Legislature

Even though he celebrated his 95th birthday on a hospital bed, the family of former President Nelson has a lot to be thankful for, erstwhile wife Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, said today, outside the Medi Clinic Heart Hospital in Tshwane.

Mama Mandela, who was flanked by daughters Zinzi and Zinani, thanked the community of Tshwane as led by the Parliamentary Constituency Office (PCO) for the support of the world icon and the family has received since the elderly statesman`s hospitalization over a month ago.

"We thank you very much for your support and especially for the strength you have given us during these difficult times. Today we will have a small family celebration at home to honour uTata, as you can understand, she said as she greeted crowds at the gates of the hospital.

The family earlier received a four meter cake and the 2metres high get well card organized by the Tshwane PCO in association with the Shoshanguve Pick ? Pay delivered at the hospital where the elderly statesman is recuperating.

Parliamentarians of Tshwane PCO including, State Security Minister Siyabonga Cwele, Minister for Women and Children and People with Disabilities, Lulu Xingwana, the Speaker of National Assembly, Max Sisulu and the Tshwane PCO Convener and Gauteng Legislature Deputy Chief Whip, Jacqui Mofokeng, joined the staff, 50 children and 95 elderly citizens who sang birthday carols for the world icon.

The 2metres long cake will be donated to the staff of Medi Clinic whom the PCO thanked as heroes and heroines who are taking care of our beloved leader.

Speaking on behalf of the staff, Hospital Manager James Brett said he and his team were humbled by the honour.
