ANC express sadness at Mbuli passing

19 May 2013

African National Congress (ANC) Caucus in the Gauteng Legislature today reacted with astound and sadness at the passing of SABC veteran anchor Vuyo Mbuli yesterday.

Chief Whip Brian Hlongwa said the passing of Mbuli at the Free State Hospital after collapsing whilst watching a rugby match was the darkest chapter in Country`s broadcasting history.

"A giant of South African media and press excellence has left us at the time we really needed him. Vuyo opitimsed the ultimate in news and current affairs presentation and was the icon of the SABC that the South Africa strived to build; One which was at the forefront of informing, educating and entertaining our citizens. The son of Soweto and one of Gauteng`s proudest protégés, he certainly left far too early and his contribution surpasses legendary.

We send our condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and all those whose life he touched so wonderfully with his charm, charisma and unbelievable humility. May his soul rest in peace;" said Hlongwa.
